Smart Technology That Empowers

The TetraSki is a modified version of the Tessier Snow’Kart. It features electric actuators on each ski and both a joystick and breath-controlled system for independent command of turning and speed.

A tether — to the instructor — is used only as an emergency brake and is not used for turning. A wireless remote offers instructors a safe way to demonstrate proper skiing technique.

The TetraSki offers an unbelievable level of independent control over a wide variety of terrain. This technology — tested extensively through the University of Utah adaptive sports program (TRAILS) — has replaced the traditional tethered bi-ski and fixed outrigger approach in the TRAILS program for individuals with high spinal cord injury and for other diagnoses with significant upper extremity impairments or asymmetry.

A computer simulator has been developed to prepare skiers through pre-hill training and practice, and it can dial-in customized settings to be used with the actual TetraSki.
